Sidwell Friends School

New Lower School

Sidwell Friends School’s new Lower School project will bring grades PreK–4 from a campus in Bethesda, Maryland to the school’s DC campus as part of a long-term campus unification plan. The project will transform the Harrison Building through selective demolition and renovation, adding a gymnasium, multipurpose room, and courtyard. Demolition of two other older buildings will create a landscaped central green connecting the Lower and Middle schools. The work also includes replacement tennis courts above a parking podium and a geothermal mechanical system. The design is intended to support the school’s sustainability goals, including LEED v4 Gold and WELL Building Standard v2 Platinum certification.

APM serves as Owner’s Representative, managing the project budget and schedule while coordinating design, permitting, and construction logistics on an active school campus.
