Capitol College

Puente Library

In 1999, Capitol College decided to renovate and expand its antiquated library into a two-floor, 13,200 SF state-of-the-art Multimedia Center and electronic library for this technology campus. APM’s procurement process delivered a general contractor’s contract approximately 10% under the project's budget and two months ahead of schedule. Coordination with the academic calendar without disturbing classes was a key requirement for this project. Beyond the standard construction challenges of both time and budget limitations, the multimedia requirements demanded precise coordination of the telecommunication and data components. The project required phasing the work to allow the existing library to remain in use while the addition was constructed. Once the shell building was completed, the two spaces were joined. The interiors were developed to create a seamless atmosphere between the new and the old.
